It only took a year.....

After living here for more than a year, we finally bought a coffee table. Those of you that have visited know that up until now we had been using a small cardboard box for our coffee table (very classy, no?). And while this cardboard box did a wonderful job in holding up for so long, something finally made Nate want to buy a real coffee table.

Off to Target I went, as I do for most of my purchases.

The picture makes the table look lighter than it really is, but here it is...

Last night we went out to dinner at a new establishment in Cedarburg. It is called the August Weber Haus (or something along those lines), and is a fondue/wine bar. We started with the classic fondue, which was swiss and another kind of cheese with minimal spices for flavor. We followed that up with the spice fondue, which was cheddar and another type of cheese with jalepeno pepper and more spices to bring a little kick to it. We finished up with the butterscotch fondue, which was made with chocolate, butterscotch, marshmallows, and some coconut. It was delicious. Add on to that my glass of pinot grigio and it was a wonderful evening!

May 20, 2008: My wife and I just had dinner at the August Weber Haus last Saturday night...it was very enjoyable. The restaurant resides in one of the historic buildings in downtown Cedarburg, WI, very quaint and in a somewhat intimate setting with only three tables for 4 (with a burner built-in the table-tops) in the dining room and a small bar with one burner for fondue dining there as well (reservations highly recommended). We live 15 minutes away and we were surprised to hear that they have been open for about a year already. The restaurant is a Wine Bar and Fondue restaurant. Unlike the popular chain fondue restaurant this is by far 1000 times better...here you have personalized service, as well as the owner introducing himself and very caring on how everything was. Even though the dining room is tiny it made for a warm friendly feeling. We went all the way with a three-course fondue dinner. We had one of the cheese fondues for an appetizer that was excellent with the freshest of ingredients. We had the August Haus specialty for our entree that consisted of a small-medium size lobster tail, two large prawns, breast of chicken and tenderloin steak. The fondue was a well seasoned tasty beef broth that was perfect for the variety of sea and turf. In addition there were several appropriate sauces on the side for dipping the tasty morsels. After our feast we did find room for dessert...chocolate fondue. They offered dark, white or a butterscotch chocolate...we opted for the traditional dark, again it was excellent. I did mention that this restaurant is also a wine bar and they had a very nice selection of wine and I believe over twenty beer options as well. We're not big drinkers but we each had a glass of white zinfandel that we both enjoyed (actually my wife had two glasses). They were very gracious to allow us to try a few of the different wines before we zeroed in on our selection. The only thing that surprised both of us was that they don't serve coffee which we would have preferred with our dessert fondue...but certainly not an issue at all. Although the pricing is not inexpensive it is worth every penny for the ambience, personalized service and high quality of food. If you like the fondue experience or if you haven’t tried a fondue restaurant before, you won’t go wrong at The August Weber Haus…”bon appétit”
